One of Donna ' s favourite coins is the Centenary Federation- Floral Emblems 2001 Bi-Metal Proof Coin. One hundred of these coins were embedded into stunning art pieces with historic illustrations of the floral emblems for each state and territory, along with a brief description of their history.
The coin itself featured a silver border of Australian floral emblems. The centrepiece, made from pure gold, is shaped as a sevenpointed Federation Star, which signifies the individual colonies becoming one nation. The central star is filled with a bed of golden wattle, the floral emblem of Australia, behind the national coat of arms.
" I was a die polisher at the time this coin was created, and considered it a great achievement to polish the inside of the star because the star border was raised on the die( incused on the coin). Native flowers have always been a preference as I do enjoy the occasional bush walk in the national parks around Perth."
