NEW RELEASE
The first coin struck at The Perth Mint when it opened in 1899 was a sovereign featuring Benedetto Pistrucci ’ s St George and the Dragon reverse . In our 125th year , we have re-imagined the famous design , which can now be admired on this extremely rare commemorative Australia Five Sovereign .

Australia Five Sovereign 2024 Gold Proof Gilded Coin
Struck from 91.67 % gold in proof quality , the coin ’ s reverse portrays a naked warrior on horseback brandishing a sword above a dragon . These elements along with the coin ’ s rim are meticulously gilded in 22-carat pink gold . Also on the reverse are the inscriptions ‘ AUSTRALIA ’, ‘ 2024 ’, and a ‘ P125 ’ mintmark .
An astonishing achievement symbolising a century and a quarter of minting excellence in Perth , the coin ’ s extremely low mintage ensures its rarity will endure forever .
