Portraying the Australian wedgetailed eagle beside the iconic American bald eagle in a striking coloured finish, this pure silver coin marks the eleventh wedgetailed eagle design for The Perth Mint by renowned American coin sculptor John M. Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint.
The wedge-tailed eagle is a striking emblem of Australia’ s vast landscapes. With a wingspan of up to 2.8 metres, it soars effortlessly on thermal currents, often reaching heights above 2,000 metres. Its distinctive wedge-shaped tail and feathered legs make it instantly recognisable as it surveys the terrain below.
