INTRODUCING

Natasha Fenner

Coordinator Heritage Collections and Curation
DESCRIBE A DAY IN YOUR ROLE
I get to delve deep into the history of the Mint— its people, processes and products as well as the site and buildings. It’ s endlessly fascinating! Each day varies. I catalogue and care for the Mint’ s collections, research and develop content for displays and answer enquiries.
WHAT PART OF OUR HERITAGE DO YOU WISH MORE PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT?
The experiences of people who lived here. It is less wellknown that the two senior Mint officials lived on site with their families for many years. I’ ve been privileged to meet children of past Deputy Masters to add their entertaining stories of what it was like growing up here to our heritage collection.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE ACHIEVEMENT IN THIS ROLE?
Leading a project to develop interpretation for our Gold Exhibition addressing the impact of Western Australia’ s gold rushes on First Nations peoples. It embeds First Nations perspectives into the Mint’ s storytelling and demonstrates a commitment to truth, respect and inclusion.
