INTRODUCING
Giulia Sabatino
Officer Visitor Services
TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AT THE PERTH MINT
I’ ve been a salesperson all my life. After my old boss retired I asked a former colleague who worked at The Perth Mint if they were hiring, and 14 years later I’ m still here! I started in the Jewellery Room, then ran the Gift Shop for nine years, and have been a Visitor Services Officer for the past five.
DESCRIBE A DAY IN YOUR ROLE
My days are always busy from the minute I start work! You ' ll find me at the reception desk, greeting our visitors with a smile, and making sure that as many as possible get to experience our Gold Tour. Our team organises tour bookings for schools, universities, international agencies, aged care groups, and other large groups. During busy periods where the gold price is at its highest it’ s ever been, we also try to take a bit of pressure off the Bullion team by helping where we can with the queuing system.
WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF YOUR ROLE?
At the moment, it ' s definitely the fast pace and that we are all travelling at! Even so, I always try to prioritise our visitors, making sure they have that golden experience with us at all times. In these moments, I also think it ' s important to uplift my colleagues when I can.
