The coin’ s coloured reverse portrays the twelve baby animals of the lunar calendar: the mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. Each adorable animal appears against a farm-like scene background. The centre of the coin includes a yin and yang symbol, surrounded by eight trigrams forming a bagua. Originating in ancient China, the bagua is a symbolic system which represents the fundamental principles of reality.
