INTRODUCING

Tracey Cobby

Manager Product Development
TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AT THE PERTH MINT
I joined the Mint in its centenary year in 1999. Since then, I’ ve had a number of different roles in the organisation, after beginning my career in sales administration and customer service. I have also had roles as Design Studio Coordinator, Inventory Controller, then worked in a role which helped establish the product development process which we still use. I’ ve been in my current role since 2016.
DESCRIBE A DAY IN YOUR ROLE
My days are so varied. My teams’ key roles are in the design, development, and coordination of new products and packaging. I could be reviewing beautiful designs and samples, or signing off on product setups in our enterprise resource planning system. We work up to 18 months ahead and there is a lot involved in the process. Maintaining a release schedule and working with production to meet those timelines is an important part of my role.
WHAT HAS CHANGED THE MOST SINCE JOINING THE MINT?
Packaging is a big one which we have expanded and developed, it’ s something we are known for now worldwide. We use quality materials and pay strong attention to detail. The technology and equipment we use to create our products, also, have changed so much through all the various processes of producing a coin.
