The coins ' ultra high relief design portrays a standing wedge-tailed eagle with outstretched wings. The outer rim and eagle image are uniqely gilded in 22-carat rose gold.

This is the tenth wedge-tailed eagle design for The Perth Mint by renowned American sculptor and engraver, John M. Mercanti. As 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint, John Mercanti produced more coin and medal designs than any other employee in the organisation’ s history.
