Ancient symbolism

Celebrating the Year of the Horse, this remarkable release includes four legal tender 1oz silver proof pieces that fit together in the shape of an ancient Chinese‘ ban liang’ coin- round with a square hole in the middle.
Ban liang coins were the first unified currency of the Chinese empire, introduced by Emperor Qin Shi Huang in ~ 220 BC. The round shape was to represent the sky or heaven, and the square hole, the earth, symbolising the completeness of the world.
Those born under the sign of the Chinese Lunar Horse in 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990 and every 12th preceding year are said to be independent, charismatic, with a sense of adventure. Being passionate and spirited, they are gifted with natural charm and an ability to inspire others.
The coloured artistry of each coin in this set come together to create a seamlessly blended image. The top coin depicts a white Friesian horse with a brown mane, raising its front hooves in a powerful stance.
