Harmony and balance in nature

“ The coin is inspired by the harmony and wisdom in nature , while paying respect to the symbolism of koi and pearls in Chinese culture . I think the design ’ s symmetry talks to nature ’ s perfection , something we should be taking greater steps to protect in our increasingly complex world ”
Struck from 5oz of 99.99 % pure silver , the coin portrays a yin yang symbol with black and polished teardrop-shaped halves , each featuring the image of a koi .
The interdependence of the fish is represented by the seed of its rival in the form of a black freshwater pearl on the head of the polished koi , and a white freshwater pearl on the head of the black koi . The Perth Mint ’ s ‘ P ’ mintmark also appears in the design .
