RELEASE DAY 8:30am ( AWST ) Tuesday 5 March 2024
A letter from the Chief Executive Officer
I would like to introduce myself as the new Chief Executive Officer of The Perth Mint and share with you how proud I am to be leading this wonderful Western Australian institution .
As someone who grew up in Perth , I have always been aware of the Mint ’ s significance in this State and to the coin collecting community . But after four months at the helm , I have a new appreciation of what a special place this is .
The Perth Mint is a unique operation . We refine the major share of Australia ’ s newly mined gold , offer a range of precious metal investment choices , create exquisite coins and provide a world-class heritage tourism attraction .
I have been especially impressed by the people who make all this possible . The Perth Mint ’ s employees are dedicated , highly skilled and take very seriously their role in maintaining the traditions of refining and minting that date back to 1899 when we opened our doors for the first time .
The public interest in what we do was on display in January with the launch of our first coin portraying the effigy of King Charles III . We were delighted to see the warm response to the release , especially the queues of collectors who lined up outside our front gates .
Our people across the organisation worked hard for many months to make this historic piece a reality . This effort reflects our determination to create the most desirable collector coins while showcasing the high standards of design , innovation , craftsmanship and quality on which our reputation for excellence is based .
I look forward to writing to you again as we progress through our 125th anniversary year with more very special coin releases to mark this significant milestone .
Paul Graham Chief Executive Officer
