INTRODUCING

Neil Rogers

Manager Coining and Production
Neil Rogers is The Perth Mint ’ s longest-serving employee , joining in 1986 as a general labourer . Thirty-eight years later , he ’ s manager of coining and production , overseeing the manufacture of close to 20 million coins and other minted products annually .
It was a stroke of luck that saw Neil land a job at the Mint soon after arriving from his native New Zealand . “ I was second in line for the position and missed out , but then got a call after the other fellow failed his medical ,” he says .
It was a time of enormous change at the Mint . With the launch of our highly successful bullion and collector coin programs , the outdated and inefficient factory was being transformed into a progressive and modern operation .
Neil worked in a range of roles and projects after having to teach himself how to work the coin presses in the early days . “ We ’ ve grown significantly and our equipment and processes have improved out of sight ,” he confirms .
Neil is extremely pleased to be leading the coin production team during our 125 th anniversary year . With no plans to step away from his senior role at one of the top mints in the world , he ’ s looking forward to the next set of challenges in an ever-changing work environment .
